There are a number of export training courses within the BCC National Training Programme for exporters including:

The National Trade Training programme equips businesses up and down the country with a highly skilled workforce ready to take on international markets. The BCC developed this service in response to the government’s focus on the need to grow the number of UK exporters as part of the UK recovery plan. It includes courses for exporters including a number of topics central to supporting any export drive. It involves a series of ten centrally accredited courses covering a core export skills curriculum. These courses are mapped to Level 2 NVQ terminology and provide invaluable basic skills for small and large companies alike.

They are generally run as one day short courses, but are complemented by an online option for those in remote areas or under ‘time away from the office’ pressure. Moreover, courses have been designed to be suitable for both experienced and novice exporters. East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire) and North Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry both offer more indepth courses that now qualify to be awarded the BCC Foundation Award in International Trade. In order to succeed, candidates must demonstrate knowledge of the subject which is marked by external examiners. On successful completion of the course each candidate receives a BCC accredited certificate, and for completing six of the ten courses merits a special presentation of a Foundation Award in International Trade.
