30 July 2014

On Monday the 28th of July, the new Secretary of State for the Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Rt. Hon. Philip Hammond MP visited the British Polish Business Centre to discuss the UK’s energy sector potential in Poland and to find out more about the work of the British Polish Chamber of Commerce and its new team helping UK SMEs, BPCC Trade.

During the visit the Foreign Secretary met British companies doing business in Poland’s nuclear sector, one of the single biggest energy opportunties for UK companies in Poland, supported by UK Trade & Investment and the British Embassy, Warsaw. The Foreign Secretary, joined by Polish Minister of State Treasury, discussed opportunities for the British nuclear supply chain to deliver Poland’s first nuclear power plant with senior Polish officials.

The Secretary of State also reviewed the work of the British Polish Chamber of Commerce and its British Polish Business Centre. ‘The British Polish Business Centre is a driving force for increased UK Polish trade. It’s the first of many to come to help UK exporters grow their presence overseas’ commented the Foreign Secretary in his remarks to the audience.

BPCC Trade also briefed Mr Hammond on the free trade data engine www.uktradedata.co.uk, which demonstrates export and import for UK goods and products in over 4000 codes from across the world and was developed by the chamber and is being used by embassies and businesses from across the world.

The Foreign Secretary was very interested in the high quality market entry projects for UK exporters delivered by BPCC Trade in partnership with UKTI and found out more about businesses succeeding as a result of BPCC Trade’s support.

The British Polish Business Centre was the first centre opened as part of the Overseas Business Network Initiative, and the BPCC is proud to be one of the leading chambers in this 41 market project. The Business Centre provides support for UK and Polish businesses to network, do business and market their goods and services.
