The 7th and 8th of September are important dates for UK-Chile trade; the highly prestigious event Chile Day will take place in London, promoting Chile's financial market abroad and seeking to strengthen ties between representatives of Chilean capital markets and their global partners. Chile Day is an annual conference attended by more than 300 people, this year it includes top financial institutes, Chilean Minister of Interior, Chilean Minister of Finance, leaders of blue chip companies and our own delegation from Chile represented by our Business Development Manager, Karl Royce.
The timing of the event is great as it coincides with government initiatives to increase the attractiveness of doing business in Chile; now is the perfect time to get on board. Over the past five years, Chile’s economic freedom has strengthened noticeably; securing Chile’s place as the first South and Central American country to reach top 10 in the 2015 Index of Economic Freedom. This is evident by the improvements made in five of the 10 economic freedoms led by sizeable gains in property rights, price stability, and the investment climate. Chile Day will be the perfect event to find out how Britcham Chile Services can help your business take advantage of the favorable conditions put in place by the Chilean government. The President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, ratified the Framework Law for Foreign Investment to help attract more and better investment. She emphasized that "this legal and institutional framework is a true opportunity for Chile to attract the best projects associated with greater productivity, greater innovation, greater diversification and value added”.
British companies of all sizes in all sectors have, for years, shown a successful track record of doing business in Chile, included amongst them are: Topshop, Waitrose, Rolls-Royce, Burberry, Jaguar, Whittard of Chelsea, JCB, HSBC, Clarks, Amec, Aggreko, Diageo, AstraZeneca and GlaxoSmithKline. Chile is the 5th largest economy in South America and has the highest GDP per capita in the region, combining this with the country’s political and economic stability, educational standards, modern transport and telecommunications infrastructure, and public security, it is easy to see why Chile is a darling.
The event will be an excellent opportunity for UK businesses to network and meet major players in the Chilean financial market and see first-hand why Chile is the optimal South American destination for investment and exporting alike. Britcham Chile Services, represented by Karl Royce, will be present and will be available to meet companies of all sizes wishing to invest in or export to Chile. This is a great opportunity to meet an expert on Chile to give honest and unbiased advice. We hope to see you there!
